Awami League is committing arson under the umbrella of law and order forces: Rizvi

Photo: Collected. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint general secretary of BNP, complained that the BNP is in the street movement by rejecting the government's resignation and schedule. In this situation, Awami League leaders and workers are committing arson and violence under the umbrella of law and order forces. BNP strongly condemns and condemns it. Besides, I demand a fair, impartial and objective investigation of every terrorist incident.

He made this complaint in a virtual press conference on Tuesday (November 21) afternoon.

Rizvi said that the allegation by members of the law and order forces that any member of the opposition party is involved in any kind of violence or arson is ridiculous despite the perfect security system in the entire country including the capital. Rather, it has become clear to the public that the leaders and workers of Awami League are committing arson and planned sabotage. BNP strongly condemns and condemns Awami League's arson and violence by misusing the state machinery to divert BNP's movement to different sectors. We demand a fair, impartial and objective investigation into every terrorist incident.

He said, the joint destruction of some identified gang members of the law enforcement agencies and the terrorist workers of the Awami League, who have axed the power, is being observed across the country. The divisive government is creating a planned anarchy through arson itself. The aim is to take advantage of the existing situation, to continue the attacks on power and mass arrests in favor of BNP and democracy.

Rizvi said, according to eyewitnesses, most of the incidents are taking place in the presence of law-enforcement forces or near large police checkposts. For example, on November 6, unknown people, Awami League, set fire to a bus parked right next to the traffic police box in Chattri Choumhani Bazar, Chittagong. On October 31, a bus was set on fire near the National Press Club in Dhaka despite heavy police deployment in the vicinity. A viral photo shows a public transport burning in front of a police box at Banglamotor intersection in Dhaka, surrounded by many policemen.

He said that on November 6, a local Jubo League leader named Nurul Uddin Tipu in Feni was caught red-handed in the incident of setting fire to a sugar mill truck in Chittagong. On November 14, an Awami League activist named Tashreek Zaman Rifat was arrested by the police in Natore with a torch and mask, and 6 torches, 3 masks and a motorcycle were seized from his abandoned house. Although the police initially arrested him on the suspicion of his association with BNP, he was later released immediately after being confirmed as an Awami League worker.

Rizvi said, the ruling Awami League has many such instances including setting fire to buses in front of the Sheraton Hotel in the past few days. Awami League has used violence to achieve their hateful-divisive political advantage. We condemn the Awami League's hideous politics of killing people, destroying people's resources, conspiratorially placing the blame on the opposition party, suppressing different parties and opinions in false cases.

He claimed that according to the information received, more than 475 leaders and workers of BNP and its affiliates and affiliated organizations have been arrested in the last 24 hours. 15 cases have been filed, more than 1720 leaders and activists have been charged (unknown including the name of the statement) and more than 35 leaders and activists have been injured.
