China will give 100 percent duty free market facilities to Bangladesh said Home Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin. He gave this information to reporters at night after a courtesy meeting with Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen on Thursday.
The Foreign Secretary said, "Trade issues were discussed in a courtesy meeting with the Chinese ambassador." The Chinese ambassador told us that a decision was made at the Sino-African summit held in the first week of September that China will provide 100% duty-free market facilities to less developed countries including Bangladesh.
Incidentally, when Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi came to Bangladesh in 2022, there were 98 percent duty-free facilities. It is now multiplied by 100.
The foreign secretary said that there has been a request to take agricultural products from Bangladesh to the Chinese market and said that the first investment that came after the current government took over came from Hong Kong, China. Even then some investments came in and if all added up, it would amount to about $8 million.
The foreign secretary said, we are going to celebrate 50 years of relations with China next year. We discuss how to do it well and reflect the warmth of the relationship.
