Shajahan Khan remanded for 7 days

The court granted a 7-day remand to Awami League presidium member and former minister Shajahan Khan in the Motalib murder case of Dhanmondi police station of the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed granted his 7-day remand after the hearing on Friday.

Earlier, the police produced Shajahan Khan in the CMM court of Dhaka. After that, the investigating officer of the case, Deputy Inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station. Khokon Mia applied to remand him for 10 days for proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, the court granted his 7-day remand.

Shajahan Khan was arrested from Dhanmondi area of ​​the capital on Thursday night.

Incidentally, on August 4, Abdul Motalib (14) joined the students' movement in the Dhanmondi police station of the capital. He later died of gunshot wounds to the chest and neck. In this incident, on August 26, the victim's father, Abdul Matin, filed a murder case at the Dhanmondi police station as the plaintiff. 176 names including Sheikh Hasina are mentioned in the case. Besides, 250/300 unknown persons were made unknown accused. Shajahan has been made accused number 23 in this case.

In the last 12th National Assembly elections, Shajahan Khan was elected as a Member of Parliament from Madaripur-2 Constituency (a part of Rajair-Madaripur Sadar) for the eighth consecutive time wearing the boat symbol. Currently, he is a presidium member of Awami League and the working president of Bangladesh Labor Federation.
