A new incident happened in the history of cricket in new Bangladesh. Tigers whitewashed them for the first time on Pakistani soil. The first day's play was abandoned due to rain. The Tigers beat Pakistan by 6 wickets in the second Rawalpindi Test in four days.
Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan and Sadman Islam got off to a great start as they set a target of 185 runs on the fourth day of the Test. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto and former Test captain Muminul Haque took the lead after breaking their 58-run partnership.
Zakir scored 40 runs off 39 balls in a flurry of batting. And Sadman scored 24 runs off 51 balls. Shanto scored 38 runs from 82 balls, Muminul collected 34 runs from 71 balls.
After losing four wickets for 153 runs in the second innings of the Tigers, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim took the lead.
Pakistan were all out for 274 runs in their first innings. Pakistan scored 172 runs in the second innings losing all wickets. Bangladesh scored 262 runs in their first innings, losing all wickets. However, in their second innings, Bangladesh played with determination and easily brought Pakistan to the door of defeat.
Bangladesh has won a Test series abroad once before. That too in 2009, in West Indies. In the 24-year Test history, Bangladesh have previously beaten the West Indies twice and Zimbabwe once.
And in 2022, Pakistan lost the series against England by 3-0 at home. They have been beaten only once in the Test series on the soil of the country.
