Two former IGPs Shahidul Haque and Abdullah Al Mamun were arrested

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahidul Haque and Abdullah Al Mamun have been arrested by law enforcement agencies from the capital Dhaka.

The two former IGPs were arrested on Tuesday (August 3) around 12:00 pm.

According to a police source, former IG Shahidul Haque was arrested from Uttara. Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was arrested from Kachukshet area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief (Additional Commissioner) Rezaul Karim Mallik confirmed the arrest. He said that former IGP Shahidul Haque and Abdullah Al Mamun are in DB custody. They will be interrogated.

It should be noted that several cases have been filed against these two former IGs. Among them, a murder case was filed on the charge of killing students in the anti-discrimination student movement. There are allegations of genocide.
