Sheikh Hasina asked Delhi to ‘attack Dhaka’

As a last-ditch effort to stay in power, before fleeing to India, Sheikh Hasina called that country’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the morning of August 5 and sought Delhi’s intervention in Dhaka. Before seeking Delhi’s help, she tried to impose martial law or a state of emergency in the country but failed. Because, top military officials including the Bangladesh Army Chief rejected her proposal. This information has been revealed from multiple reliable sources.

The investigation further revealed that Sheikh Hasina’s escape to India was done in great secrecy. The plan was prepared by the security officials close to Sheikh Hasina in coordination with the Indian security authorities by August 4. The then DG of SSF Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan and the QMG of the Army Lt. General Mujib were with the plan.

The investigation further revealed that Sheikh Hasina called President Md. Shahabuddin Chuppu at Bangabhaban on August 4 and asked him to be ready to declare a state of emergency. She ordered the Army Chief to suppress the student and public protests by firing. Similarly, the Air Force Chief was also asked to fire from a helicopter. But Sheikh Hasina did not follow any intention or order. In the end, she was given 45 minutes to pack her suitcases and go to a safe location to save her life. Lunch was cooked in Ganabhaban. But there was no time to eat. She had to flee to India in an Air Force 'C-130J' aircraft. At that time, she took 14 suitcases with her and made sure that the suitcases were properly loaded on the plane. Sheikh Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana, General (retd.) Tarek Siddiqui and his wife and a baby girl also fled by plane with her.

Sheikh Hasina fled to India ten days after boasting that 'Sheikh Hasina does not flee'. No one could have imagined that a Prime Minister who had remained in power for fifteen and a half years would flee the country like this. There is no precedent in the history of Bangladesh for a person to flee the country like this after being ousted.

Our country conducted an investigation into Sheikh Hasina's escape to India and what happened at Ganabhaban and Dhaka Cantonment from August 3 to 5. All the unknown things came to light through information received from eyewitnesses of security officers at Ganabhaban, relevant sources of the army and air force, sources from the office of the chief advisor and Bangabhaban, and from a few advisors. Names have not been mentioned due to the sensitivity of the issues. The investigation also revealed that Sheikh Hasina spoke to Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at least twice. Doval also spoke to other officials and urged to ensure Sheikh Hasina's security. The investigation also revealed that the Indian Army Chief spoke to Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman on the telephone around 11 am on August 5.
