Ashwin-Jadeja stole the day for Bangladesh in a pair of 195 runs

Bangladesh-India face off in the first of the two-match Test series. Tigers had a great start to the day. Hasan Mahmud dismissed the opening three batters. Without allowing India to handle that pressure properly, the Indian team took 6 wickets for 144 runs by the Tigers. But in the last session, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took the day with a pair of 195 runs.

At the end of the first day, India scored 339 runs, losing 6 wickets. Ashwin is unbeaten on 102 runs off 112 balls and Jadeja is unbeaten on 86 runs off 117 balls by batting in ODI style.

Ashwin last scored a century against England in 2021.

Today at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Ashwin scored his second century in 108 balls, turning around the danger of the team. He arranged the innings with 2 sixes and 10 fours. His century also came at a time when India were under pressure in the Chennai Test.

Bangladesh is now seeing the opposite picture in their pair of 195 runs. At a time when India's score was in danger of reaching two and a half hundred, Ashwin brought the team under control by forming a record partnership with Jadeja. The pair of record 195 runs for the 7th wicket surpassed the pair of 133 runs of Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan.

In 2004, Sachin-Zaheer made this pair for the 10th wicket in Dhaka. Jadeja-Ashwin now owns the highest pair of 7th or below against Bangladesh.

Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and decided to bowl in the beginning. Hasan Mahmood gave an incredible start against India. Team India took 3 wickets for 34 runs. Later he dismissed Rishabh Pant and took 4 wickets for 58 runs. Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma are on his list of victims.

Jadeja-Ashwin made Hasan cry in the last afternoon even though Rathi-Maharthi were dismissed. India's score is now 339 after losing 6 wickets for 144 runs. The two all-rounders did not allow the Bangladeshi bowlers to get any more wickets. So, although the first two sessions were happy, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim were sad when they returned to the dressing room at the end of the first day.
