Death toll in China earthquake rises to 95

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in the remote mountainous region of Tibet in China has risen to 95. The USGS said the quake struck at 9:05 a.m. local time on Tuesday. It measured 7.1 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the quake was about 50 miles west of the Tibetan capital Lhasa. The casualties occurred in the nearby town of Gedar in Damaksong County.

The quake was also felt in Bangladesh, India and Bhutan. A magnitude 7.1 earthquake also struck Nepal. The quake was felt at 6:35 a.m. local time on Tuesday in Nepal.
