Qatari Emir's special honor for Khaleda Zia

The Emir of Qatar is sending an air ambulance equipped with the latest medical facilities for BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's visit to London. The Qatari government has decided to send this air ambulance quickly as a special honor for Khaleda Zia.

Khaleda Zia is leaving for London on the night of January 7. The Airbus A-319 special ambulance is scheduled to land at Dhaka International Airport on Tuesday, January 6.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the Qatari air ambulance carrying Madam will make a stopover in Doha for refueling. She will go straight to the hospital from there when she reaches London the next morning.

Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson's personal physician and Standing Committee member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said that the Qatari medical team met Madam Zia last night and monitored her physical condition. Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman from London spoke to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders at the Gulshan office about preparations for the medical trip. Members of the BNP Standing Committee will meet Khaleda Zia at 8 pm today, Sunday.

Begum Khaleda Zia fell seriously ill after being unjustly imprisoned in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust cases. Since then, BNP and her family have demanded that she be sent abroad for treatment, but the Hasina government has not responded. Finally, she underwent treatment and surgery at Evercare Hospital in the capital.

The scene changed after the fall and flight of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 in the mass uprising of students and the public. Doctors advised Begum Khaleda Zia to go abroad for proper treatment. In that light, the government was informed of the matter. Then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted the Qatari government. The Emir of Qatar himself expressed interest in providing air ambulance support to Begum Khaleda Zia.
