Smartphone Protection Features

Many people lose their smartphones by mistake. Sometimes, smartphones are lost due to theft or robbery. Then the worry increases about the security of important information on the smartphone. What to do, where to go? Because even if you want, it is not possible to control the lost device remotely. To avoid such a situation, Google is providing protection features. As a result, whoever has it in their hands will not be able to know the secret information on your phone. Let's know the protection features. Written by Mejbah Mukul

Theft Detection Lock

To enable the theft protection feature, go to your phone's Settings app. Now scroll down and tap on the Google option and enter the 'All Services' section. Here, tap the toggle next to the 'Theft Protection' option from the 'Theft Detection Lock' option to enable the feature. In the future, if the user's suspicious activities are detected, your smartphone will automatically lock.

Find My Device

First, you have to enter the ‘Settings’ of the phone and tap on the ‘Google’ option. After tapping, the ‘Find My Device’ option will appear. The option may not appear on many mobile phones. In that case, you have to tap Download and download the app on your phone. Then, log in to the app with your Gmail account and enable the ‘Find My Device’ option. Now, you have to enter this address in any web browser or with another mobile. After that, if you log in with your Google account, you will see a list of all the Android devices associated with that account. Tapping the name of your lost smartphone from that list will show its location. However, the other phone must have the same Google account and must have an internet connection with the lost phone. Otherwise, the latest location will not be known.

If the internet is on, you can remotely lock the device with a new PIN, password, and pattern. You can even delete all the information. However, in this process, all the pictures and videos on your device will be deleted from the phone forever. So if you don’t want to lose any information at all, back up in advance.

Equipment Identity

It is always better to keep your iPhone or Android-powered smartphone locked. And when you buy a new phone, you must save the International Mobile Equipment Identity, or 'IMEI' number. You don't have to go anywhere to collect the number, you will get this 15-digit IMEI number on the box of the mobile phone. Or you can get it by dialing *#06# on your mobile. Now you just have to write down the number somewhere. This number will be needed to find a lost or stolen phone. As a result, you can easily file a General Diary (GD) at the police station.

However, in the case of an iPhone, if you log in to your Apple ID, it will show you where your device is. Now, if you turn on Lost and Erase mode, the location of the phone will be known as well as the data will be saved, which is what we call location tracking.

Remotely Locate This Device

You can also find a lost phone through the location of the smartphone. For Android, you have to go to Security from Google Settings. There, you have to enable the 'Remotely Locate This Device' option. Then, you have to go there using any browser on the phone or another phone or computer. In this process, you will get the location information of the lost phone in real time.
