India once again claimed its innocence in Bangladesh floods

India once again denied the claim of flooding in Bangladesh due to the opening of Dambur Dam on the Gomti River. American news media CNN recently published a video report about the terrible floods in Bangladesh. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaswal claimed the CNN report as misleading and false.

In a press conference on Friday, Randhir Jaswal said, CNN's report on the flood situation in Bangladesh has come to our attention. The report is misleading and factually untrue. Statements made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the flood situation were omitted in the CNN report.

He also said that the regular and timely exchange of information with Bangladesh under the joint water management process was also not mentioned in the report.

The video report of this US media claimed that the people of Feni district in southeastern Bangladesh blamed the Indian authorities for the floods. Feni is located very close to the Bangladesh-India border. People in Feni told CNN that the devastating floods were caused by the opening of the Dambur Dam in Tripura without any prior warning.

Earlier last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India released a statement claiming their innocence in the face of the complaints of the common people of Bangladesh. There they claim that there was no flood in Bangladesh due to the opening of Dambur Dam. The floods were caused by abnormal rainfall in Tripura and Bangladesh. Source: NDTV.
