After 5 months of the mass uprising of students and the public, the proclamation of the July Revolution is finally being announced. On December 31, in the presence of students and the public, the 'Proclamation of July Revolution' will be given from the central Shaheed Minar in the capital, basically, the outline of the new Bangladesh of the future. It is known that this proclamation is being given as a joint initiative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which led the July Revolution, and the newly formed Morcha National Citizens Committee.
In this regard, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Central Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that the 'Proclamation of July Revolution' will be released before the nation on December 31 as documentary evidence of the people's aspirations surrounding the mass uprising and the rejection of the 1972 constitution. It will lay the grave of the Mujibist 1972 constitution.
He said this at an emergency press conference organized at the central office of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Bangla Motor in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Hasnat Abdullah said, since the July Revolution declaration was not made on August 5, fascists abroad are conspiring about it. They are questioning the 'legitimacy' of the mass uprising. Standing on the blood of more than 2,000 martyrs and more than 20,000 injured, they are questioning the 'legitimacy' of this uprising.
Stating that what the next Bangladesh will be like and its manifesto will be announced at the Shaheed Minar on December 31, Hasnat further said, through the July Mass Uprising, people have taken a stand against the Mujibist Constitution of 1972. Which requires an institutional and documentary recognition. For this, we will announce the 'Proclamation of July Revolution' from the central Shaheed Minar from where we had made a point declaration.
In this regard, National Citizens Committee member Arifur Rahman told my country that every revolution has a manifesto. The 1971 Liberation War and the 1990 mass uprising also had a manifesto. But the 1924 mass uprising happened so quickly that it was not possible to announce any manifesto. The August 5 revolution was essentially brought about through a single declaration. A written declaration of that revolution will be given on December 31.
He said that the declaration will contain some political proposals. In it, all the martyrs of the July Revolution will be declared national heroes. Basically, it will be an outline and the main baseline of what the new Bangladesh of the future will be like. Based on this, a new constitution will be recommended.
Since last Saturday evening, statuses like ‘Thirty-first December, Now or Never’ and ‘Proclamation of July Revolution’ have suddenly spread on Facebook.
Top leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement made these posts.
Many people made such posts. Asif Mahmud, advisor to the interim government, also made such a post on Facebook. In that post, he wrote, ‘Proclamation of July Revolution.’ Shortly before that, in another post, he wrote, ‘Comrades, now or never’, meaning if not now, then never. After that, everyone started discussing December 31.
Stating that the proclamation of this July Revolution does not belong to any specific party or class, Hasnat Abdullah said at a press conference yesterday, “We have given voice to the demands that have emerged among the people around the July movement. We will implement the aspirations that have emerged from the people. The draft of the proclamation has already been sent to various political parties. They are editing it wherever it is necessary,” he said.
Referring to the Awami League as a ‘Nazi party,’ Hasnat further said that the party that has done politics of torture, oppression, murder and killing, who has stood against the hopes and aspirations of the people, this Nazi party will be declared irrelevant from Bangladesh through this July proclamation.
At this time, the 'Proclamation of July Revolution' declaration will be a written document for the whole of Bangladesh, said Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens' Committee, saying that this document will contain our new dreams and reject the past systems.
Sarjis also said that the declaration on the 31st will contain the dreams of the martyred family. The past systems that people did not actually accept from their place and the systems that people do not want in the future will be clarified.
At this time, Abdul Hannan Masud said, the fascist structures of the state are still involved in conspiracies. They are setting fire to our secretariat. By setting fire to the secretariat, they are essentially questioning our government and the mass uprising. We will keep our eyes on them and declare open war against them on that day (December 31). Everyone who embraced the mass uprising of '24 will be a part of this proclamation.
Meanwhile, sources said that preparations have been made for a massive student and public rally at the Central Shaheed Minar to mark the announcement of the July Revolution. Leaders of various political parties and prominent figures are expected to participate in the event.
