Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col. (retd.) Oli Ahmed commented that the National Anthem needs to be changed for three reasons.
He said this in an emergency press conference called at the central office of Moghbazar LDP on Tuesday morning (September 10) in response to questions from journalists.
He said, 'I have said for three reasons, this kind of music is not acceptable. Number one is that when it was made, there was no possibility that Bangladesh would become independent.
So this song was not written about Bangladesh.
Number two is that no citizen of Bangladesh composed this song. Number three is that the tune has been duplicated in this song.
He then added, "If the national anthem is about such misleading things, then it is an insult to our entire nation."
In Bangladesh there is no discrimination between us regardless of caste-religion. There is no such thing as majority or minority. Everyone is a citizen of Bangladesh and everyone has equal rights. He claimed that we should move forward unitedly.
Earlier, Abdullahil Aman Azmi, the son of Jamaat-e-Islami's former emir Ghulam Azam, had demanded changes to the national anthem and constitution of Bangladesh. There is a discussion and criticism on the social media Facebook. Later, the Jamaat said that Azmi's statement was personal.
