Shot of a young man openly raising a pistol in a polling station

Photo: Collected. A clash occurred between Awami League and independent candidate supporters outside the polling station of Chittagong-10 (Doublemooring-Pahartali) constituency in the 12th National Assembly Elections. During the incident, one can be seen chasing with a pistol in his hand openly. Two people were shot in this incident outside Pahartali University College Center in Khulshi around 11 o'clock on Sunday (January 7).

Two were shot during the encounter. They are Shant Barua (30) and Md. Jamal (32).

Eyewitnesses said that Shamim Azad aka Blake Shamim openly raised a pistol and fired at one stage of the conflict between the supporters of independent candidate former mayor Manzoor Alam and boat candidate Mohiuddin Bachchu outside Pahartali University College Centre. He is an employee of local councilor Wasim Uddin Chowdhury.

City Police Commissioner Krishnapad Roy said the police are trying to identify the youth who raised the pistol and fired. Hopefully, he will be identified and arrested.
